Tom Uniack

Executive Director, Washington Wild


Tom has been with Washington Wild for more than 20 years and has led the statewide conservation nonprofit , which works to protect Washington's wild lands and waters, for the last decade. He plays a leadership role in several conservation coalitions focused on pursuing Wilderness and Wild and Scenic River protections, Outstanding Resource Water designations and protecting Washngton's remaining old growth forests and salmon habitat. His leadership role within a core group of both local and regional conservation advocates and his willingness to find common ground has significantly advanced the protection and restoration of Washington’s wild land and waters. This notably includes the successful passage of the Wild Sky Wilderness Act (2008) and the Alpine Lakes Wilderness Additions Act (2014).

Prior to joining Washington Wild, Tom earned a Master’s of Public Administration from the University of Washington's Daniel J. Evans School of Public Affairs. Tom worked for Defenders of Wildlife for seven years in Washington, D.C. where he worked on a range of issues including public land management, government affairs and leading programs to preserve Florida black bears and Alaskan wolves. Tom and his wife, Stephanie, are the proud parents of son Luke, and twins Charlize and Sierra.
